On first glance, Jian is a small, physical, space, rich with color, and a feeling of privacy even though at some point in your dining experience, you may be placed at the front window. When you first sit, you feel like you are cramped like 10 pounds of stuff in a 5 pound bag but it is comfortable as are the padded seats. It's quiet and cozy for the most part unless you choose to eat during the busiest times. Service is good usually due to wait staff that rotate between waiting tables and covering the take out front counter or as for the food. The quality is excellent. There is definitely at least one chef working at Jian I have a feeling there is more than one. I've eaten two different dishes there recently, and I can say that the preparation of the food is to my liking meaning that they do not overuse sugar and concentrate on having balanced and flavorful meals, and which meats are cooked to perfection which most competitor Chinese restaurants in New York City do not do. in conclusion, the price range of their menu for entrées is between 13 and $24 per plate. It's well worth the extra expense to have well prepared food that doesn't offend you so you get full value for your dollar the only weakness of Jian is that you wait a little longer for your food being that the quality of what you're receiving takes time to prepare, which is entirely acceptable, and the pet peeve is that the sodas are all warm, almost body temperature, so drink, ice, water, or tea.
